On June 5th, blurppy and the Poster Posse released their latest offering to the masses. This time around it was Marvel’s upcoming Sci-Fi Opera comic book blockbuster (think I can add any more adjectives?) Guardians of the Galaxy! The next entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe storms into theatres August 1, so The Poster Posse assembled to create some of the most colourful, diverse and unique offerings to date. The release of both phases can be found on the Blurppy site Here and Here.
My entry is a bit of a different one for me. Initially I had a different concept underway, but ultimately due to time constraints I could not do it the justice I would have liked. Instead I chose to go in a more conceptual route focusing on the imminent danger that is hinted at in both the trailers and the plot synopsis I’ve read. So the main baddie is Ronan the Accuser and he is after an Orb (seen in the trailers) which is also believed to be an Infinity Gem (think the Ether in Thor 2 as well as the Tesseract). In turn, an unlikely group of ‘losers’ must band together to form the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and “stop evil before it wipes out the galaxy”. My poster depicts this struggle in a more conceptual way.
So far the project has gotten some MAJOR recognition, most of that coming from the director himself James Gunn! He has been periodically posting our posters up on his Twitter and Facebook pages! It has been great to see some recognition come from this stellar group of artists and we look forward to continuing on!
Hopefully by the end of the weekend or early next week, I will have another project to reveal! Think… Game of Thrones.
Cheers
